Nicholas Romany clinches gold at Run Barbados Fun Mile
In a thrilling start to the Barbados Marathon’s 40th-anniversary celebration, Nicholas Romany, a 29-year-old sprinter from Trinidad, seized victory in the Run Barbados Fun Mile.

Nicholas Romany, a 29-year-old sprinter from Trinidad, set the seal by clinching a Gold in the Run Barbados Fun Mile at the Garrison, Savannah, on Friday evening.
Romany took 4 minutes and 38 seconds to finish the race and secured the gold medal. He commenced an exciting weekend for the ongoing festivities.
Notably, despite falling slightly short of his personal best, the Trinidadian runner expressed that the marathon created little challenge for him.
“It wasn’t too hard. I thought it would have been a bit faster, but I just went out, stayed with the front pack, and everyone started to fall off” ” Sprinter stated.
Notably, a Trinidadian gave the credit of his success to his punctilious preparation, which included adequate rest and a proper diet before the race.
Notwithstanding the minor setback, he is eagerly looking forward to his participation in the remaining events of the weekend festival, which includes the 10k race on Saturday and the half marathon on Sunday, both of which will start at Barclays Park.
It is to be noted that more than 600 runners participated in Friday’s Fun Mile. The island nation’s marathon is attracting athletes enthusiasts across the world.
The 40th edition ensures a weekend of spirited competition and celebration.
Run Barbados Marathon
Barbados commenced its 40th edition of the Run Barbados Marathon on Friday at the Garrison Savannah with a grand welcome of PWC Fun Mile at 8 pm.
Notably, the winners will be awarded the challenger medals to encourage their participation in various events such as Gold Challenge, including Casuarina 10k, Fun Mile and Farley Marathon, to the Bronze Challenge, which comprises Sleeping Giant 5k, Fun Mile and Sand Dunes Half Marathon.
Run Barbados is considered as the largest marathon in the Caribbean which has advanced into one of Barbados’ premier sporting events on the island, known for its spirit of camaraderie and festive atmosphere.
