St Lucia: On Friday (February 18), the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs’ Dental Unit will organize a mobile dental programme at the Grace Combined School.
Students of the Grace Combined School and nearby schools will be benefitted from the programme. As per the ministry of health, wellness & elderly affairs, the initiative will provide information about a wide range of topics, including healthy lifestyles, balanced eating, personal hygiene and COVID-19 protocols.
This programme would also treat the students and provide oral treatments like teeth cleanings, fillings and extractions onsite.
The team will also organize a mini treasure hunt, lucky dip and other engaging games for the students with the established COVID protocols, as per the information by the Ministry of Health.
The host of the initiative is the Dental Services Unit, which has been in operation for more than 12 years. It has benefitted hundreds of schools across the breadth of the island.
The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs’ service has been known for the creative promotion of oral health through education-related activities. The unit shares tips to keep the teeth healthy and strong under the service, following activities such as – National Dental Poster, Poetry, and Spelling Bee competitions, as well as the Dental Easter and Summer camps.
The ministry extended thanks towards the sponsors who continued to assist the team.
The unit reminded the public about the regular dental service provided at the regular dental clinics. These services include – oral hygiene education, cleanings, fillings, extractions, sealants, fluoride treatment and chair orientation. The timing announced was between 8 am to 4:30 pm from Monday to Friday, as per the Dental Service Unit.
The unit further stated that the dental clinics would allow the walk-ins only for urgent or emergency cases.
