Minister Joyelle Clarke attends COP 28, shares highlights

                                                    St Kitts and Nevis: Joyelle Clarke, minister of sustainable development expressed her pleasure to be a part of COP28 through a social media post on December 8, 2023.
She marked her presence at the St Kitts and Nevis Pavilion at COP28 along with federation’s young entrepreneurs; Cannor Greaux Taylor, a project director of Groganics who was selected to participate in COP28 as a Young Innovator under the banner of UNICEF’s innovation 30 initiative.
Moreover, she shared her view on it and added that the 28th session of conference of parties was a great success.
“COP28 has been such a rewarding and productive space for youth engagement,” quoted the minister.
Interestingly, she casted light on how Greaux Taylor selected from Groganics has taken a hand on approach to provide a remedy to the climatic situation. And, emphasized that he specializes in the conversion of Sargassum for pro-environmental uses such as agriculture and composting.
She even said that she was so interested to know about the work of Connor Greaux and how he works with sargassum repurposing. Further she added that her participation at COP 28 enabled her to do so.
She highlighted that climate change is continuously affecting small islands such as St Kitts and Nevis and this negative impact is the result of sargassum blooms which have resulted from warmer ocean temperatures.
“This is the type of innovation that the Federation needs as the country powers towards sustainable transition,” mentioned minister Joyelle Clarke.
Further, she added that through such an initiative, the Ministry of Sustainable Development Environment, Climate action is looking forward to the ways to scale up the operations through new mechanisms.
This COP 28 hosted youth spotlight on sustainability set a new standard for youth engagement in global sustainability.
