St Mary, Jamaica: A mentally unstable man chopped a three-year-old boy to death and caused severe injuries to five other people. The incident is reported to have taken place on Wednesday, 29th May 2024.
The deceased has been identified as Asha Campbell of Pagee. As per the details shared by the authorities, Asha was walking with her family members when a man with an unsound mind attacked him with an iron pipe and a knife.
Subsequently, the mother of the little kid tried to save her son from the attack of a mentally unstable man. However, in the efforts to save her son, the mother of Asha and five other people received chop wounds to different parts of their bodies and got severely injured.
Following the incident, the authorities were alerted and informed about the act of crime. Also, the people who sustained severe injuries were taken to the hospital. As soon as they all reached the hospital, the doctors on duty examined them thoroughly and pronounced the 3-year-old kid dead. Meanwhile, one person has been discharged, and the other injured people are still hospitalized and undergoing medical treatment.
As per the reports, the authorities have arrested the suspect and have promised to punish the culprit for the offense he committed.
After the incident, several residents of the community took to their social media accounts and expressed their views and opinions on the matter. One person with a Facebook handle Monica Henry commented “This is so sad and heartbreaking. Condolences to his family, friend’s, classmates and teachers. RIP little one.”
Another person with a Facebook account, Valrie Gayle, commented the following: “My deepest sympathy to the parents and family. May God wrap his loving arms around you and give you his peace. RIP, little Angel, so sad.”
“Another sad Reading. Condolences to the deceased family and speedy recovery to those injured,” wrote another user.
