Man killed during confrontation with police in Spanish Town at St Catherine

Kingston, Jamaica: A fatal shooting between the police officers and the suspect in St Catherine during the anti-crime operation, claimed the life of the accused. The Independent Commission of Investigations is probing into the matter.
The police report revealed that the deceased was identified as Charles MacDonald, also known as ‘Chubs.’ The investigating officers were informed about the suspect, who was found at the same location where officers conducted their anti-crime exercise.
Noting this, the team was reported to be in the Shelter Rock in the Spanish Town at St Catherine, where a terrifying shootout between the officers and accused occurred. McDonald opened several shots towards the direction of the police.
As a result, McDonald was killed during the confrontation with the police. If sources are to be believed, it has been said that he has received multiple gunshot wounds on his body.
He was immediately taken to the Spanish Town Hospital for the medical aid, however, in spite of many efforts by the doctors, the accused succumbed to injuries later on.
The sources further disclosed that the police have recovered a handgun at the crime spot, which allegedly belonged to McDonald. Further inquiries regarding the case are ongoing by the Independent Commission of Investigations.
Additionally, the untiring efforts and commitment of the Jamaica police department against the crime can be seen in this case. The people around the nation lauded the commendable work of the officers through their comments on social media (Facebook).
While reacting to the news, a person named Sharon Banton encouraged people to appreciate the presence of police as they are maintaining citizen’s security. He commented, “You guys want to be heroes well heroes always get dead. Stop fire on police. Police defend your life. Without the police I may be dead.”
Another FB user, by the name of Godson Miller wrote, “The police must win at all times.”
