St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party celebrates 2nd year in Office
On the occasion of celebrating remarkable 2 years of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, the Prime Minister, Dr Terrance addressed the nation and recalled significant achievements undertaken by his administration over the period of 2 years.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: On the occasion of celebrating remarkable 2 years of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, the Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew addressed the nation and recalled significant achievements undertaken by his administration over the period of 2 years.
While shedding light on the massive victory they registered on 5th August 2022, PM Terrance Drew stated that he is filled with immense pride and gratitude as this commemoration is not just a reminder of their triumph at the polls, but a testament to their collective commitment to building a brighter future for St Kitts and Nevis.
PM Drew stated that his administration had implemented several transformative initiatives under the Independence RESET program, which has been designed with a vision to bring relief and stimulate economic growth. While shedding light on these initiatives, the PM Terrance Drew stated that the Independence 40 Workers Bonus of EC$1000 injected EC$45 million into the economy of the country which has directly benefitted the hardworking citizens of the country.
The administration ruled by Dr Terrance Drew has also made several measures and plans to address arrears in essential services, ensuring immediate reconnection for residential SKELEC and Water Services customers, and eliminated penalties on National Housing Corporation mortgages.
The leader of the nation also shed light on their Build and Thrive Incentive and stated that it has been instrumental in supporting the citizens of the country. This effort was undertaken in order to offer duty-free and reduced VAT on building materials for first-time homeowners and renovators. Along with that, the Prime Minister also shed light on lowering interest rates on residential lands and easing the financial burden on new landowners.
Moreover, Prime Minister called payment of pensions for Government Auxiliary Employees, their “landmark achievement.” This initiative undertaken by the Prime Minister outlines their dedication to recognizing and rewarding the contributions of all workers.
While shedding light on the developments made at the JNF General Hospital, PM Drew stated that they have made significant strides in the health sector of the country. He stated that the deployment of four new triage officers at the JNF General Hospital, reducing wait times by 40%, installing air conditioning units in the medical and surgical wards, restoring the hospital’s roof with support from the Republic of China (Taiwan), upgrading the water system, renovation of the hospital lobby which was funded by The Cable, construction on the MRI building, all are the critical steps towards enhancing the health services of the country.
The Prime Minister continued to say that his administration has and will always be striving hard for enhancing the health sector of the country.
PM Drew also talked about the surge in crime activities and violence and stated that his administration is committed to using all the necessary resources and measures with a vision to combat such activities. He also added about the economic sector and shared that it is thriving with the private sector, publishing record numbers of job openings.
The Prime Minister also shared about their plans for the third year and remarked that they are pledging to start the construction of smart homes in their upcoming year. Along with that, he shared that his administration will soon commence the construction of a new and modern Basseterre High School, marking the completion of the MRI Building at the JNF General Hospital as well as rolling out their renewable energy projects.
Also, the Prime Minister extended gratitude to his fellow Cabinet colleagues and the comrades of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party. He shared that his Labour Party will continue to work harder for the brighter and prosperous future of St Kitts and Nevis.
