Georgetown, Guyana: Guyana Harpy Eagles were bowled out for 122 runs by the Leeward Islands Hurricanes on the opening day of their fifth-round match in the West Indies Championships at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, on Wednesday, according to the update by Cricket360.
As per the update, opening batsman Matthew Nandu top-scored with 22, and Kevlon got 12. Off-spinner Rahkeem Cornwall wrecked the Harpy Eagles innings with the impressive figures of four wickets for 27 runs from 17 overs; left-arm pacers Colin Archibald and Javier Spencer took two wickets for 27 and 35 runs, respectively.
The Hurricanes were 133 for five wickets at the close of play. Kieran Powell scored 39, and Keacy Carty made 23. Jahmar Hamilton is 35 not out, and Kofi James is unbeaten on nine. Left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul has picked up two wickets for 31 runs, it added.
Cricket360 also informed over at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad. Terrance Hinds (94) and Anderson Phillips (63) rescued Trinidad & Tobago Red Force with a ninth wicket of 100 runs against Jamaica Scorpions.
The Red Force were in dire straits at 185 for wickets before Hinds and Phillips began their fightback. Hinds faced 121 balls and counted 10 fours and three sixes, while Phillips received 109 balls and struck seven fours and two sixes. Earlier, the Red Force lost four wickets for 41 runs before Joshua Da Silva (39) and Tion Webster (30) repaired the damage with a fifth-wicket partnership of 71 runs.
It added, after Webster’s wicket fell, the Red Force lost two quick wickets for seven runs and slipped to 119 for seven wickets. Bryan Charles (9) and Hinds added 66 for the eighth wicket to stop the slide. Medium pacer Derval Green took three wickets for 56 runs, and pacers Marquino Mindley, Ojay Shields, and left-arm spinner Jeavor Royal picked up two wickets apiece. The Scorpions were five runs for one wicket at the stumps.
Meanwhile, at the Queen’s Park Oval, the Windward Islands Volcanoes were bowled out for 237 runs by Barbados Pride. Alick Athanaze made 59, Tevyn Walcott contributed 55 and Ryan John got 41. Seamer Akeem Jordan grabbed five wickets for 44 runs, medium pacer took two wickets for 44 runs, and left-arm spinner Joel Warrican chipped in with two wickets for 57 runs.
Barbados Pride reached 48 without loss at the close of play; Shayne Moseley is 26, not out, and Zachary McCaskie on 21.
