Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: It is a significant milestone for the Kittitian player Jahzara Claxton as under her captaincy, Leeward Islands Under-19 team squad claimed the second position in the CWI Rising Stars Under-19 Women’s T20 Championship.
Following the remarkable growth of the team, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew extended congratulations to the team and the captain Claxton and lauded her for her right and valuable decisions.
The leader not only recognised the captaincy skills of Claxton but also appreciated her game and stated that despite the captaincy pressure, she managed to lead her team towards victory and proved to become the crucial asset. Notably, the skipper’s outstanding performance earned her the Most Valuable Player Award with 11 wickets and 191 runs at an average of 42.75.
The Prime Minister called her the inspiration to several young players and stated that she is a shining example to her peers. Earlier this year, she was also appointed as the Youth Board Member on the Violence as a Public Health Perspective Committee.

He stated that without the dedication and team building efforts of the players like Jada Collis, Aliyah Weekes, Kayzg Boyles, Jcazenique Hodge, Zara Skerritt, Gabrielle Harrylall and the Captain, the team would not able to get what they have achieved.

“Congratulations once again to the entire team. We continue to support your efforts,” noted Dr Terrance Drew.
