St. Kitts, native Petty Officer 2nd Class Ivin Tyson, is making significant strides aboard the USS Jackson, a U.S. Navy warship in San Diego, California. He credited his native Cayon, Saint Kitts and Nevis, the foundation that helped to shape his life.
Notably, Ivin joined the U.S. Navy five years ago and now serves as an engineman aboard the USS Jackson, U.S. Navy operating out of San Diego, California.
The USS Jackson is said to be a fast, optimally-manned, mission-tailored surface combatant that operates in near-shore and open-ocean environment. The ship plays a crucial role in maritime security, sea control, and deterrence missions around the globe by working with joint, combined, manned, and unmanned teams.
Ivin Tyson has earned numerous opportunities in Navy which has helped him to learn, grow and achieve. So far, he has earned both his engineering duty officer and engineering officer of the watch qualifications around a year ago. These accomplishments are a testament to the unwavering commitment, dedication and skill of Ivin Tyson.
While shedding light on his journey from Cayon to the deck of a U.S. Navy Warship, Tyson stated that he had learned adaptation in St Kitts and Nevis, which has helped him throughout his journey. He stated being able to adapt is significant for success in any environment, and it’s a skill that has been crucial throughout his time on the USS Jackson.
Moreover, he also expressed about his parents respond to his achievements and stated that his family is extremely proud of him. He added that serving in the Navy was like a dream come true for him.
And, for the same, he has worked really hard in order to show his family that how far he has come. He also acknowledged the woman support in his life and stated that his mother Jillian Tyson has always been the source of strength for him who has allowed him to pursue his dreams in America.
He also mentioned his sisters, Jamella and April, for their essential support in his journey from Cayon to the deck of U.S. Navy Warship. He added that he will continue to work hard just to see a smile and pride in the hearts of his family members.
With his ambitious spirit, Tyson is looking forward to advancing his rank. Moreover, apart from traveling to faraway lands, he has positioned himself to attain success during military service as well.
