Julien Alfred creates new national record at Diamond League, preparing for Paris Olympics 2024
The star-athlete of Saint Lucia, Julien Alfred once again bloomed all the citizens of the island nation and her fans with excitement and joy as she established her new personal best and created new national record 21.86 at the London Diamond League on Saturday.

Castries, Saint Lucia: The star-athlete of Saint Lucia, Julien Alfred once again bloomed all the citizens of the island nation and her fans with excitement and joy as she established her new personal best and created new national record 21.86 at the London Diamond League on Saturday.
Notably, Alfred finished second at the race behind American Gabby Thomas who ran a meet record 21.82 to win. However, despite a second-place finish in the 200m, she recorded history and once again won all the hearts and minds of the audience.
Following this accomplishment, the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre took to his social media account and extended congratulations to the Julien Alfred for her remarkable accomplishment. He also extended her best wishes for the Paris Olympics 2024 and stated that he is looking forward to her performance.
“We are proud of you,” noted PM Pierre.
Following her race, Julien Alfred spoke about her experience and stated that it is always an honour to represent her nation on an international platform. She asserted that it is always overwhelming for her to be an ambassador for her tiny island every day, she steps on the track.
She also added that their nation is small but they are mighty and have amazing talent in Saint Lucia which is just waiting to come out. Also, Julien has been undefeated indoors at the beginning of the year, as she also claimed her first World Indoor Championship 60m title in Glasgow in March before she switched her focus outdoors in build up to the Olympics.
Moreover, Alfred who is currently residing in Texas is also planning to return home to the island nation before the end of her season. She expressed that she is missing her food, people and the environment. She wishes to being around her family and being on the beach.
She also talked about her participation in Paris Olympics 2024 and stated that she is optimistic and is making all possible efforts to bring medal for her nation. Julien will be competing in the women’s 100 meters and 200 meters and has the blessings and love of all her countrymen.
The Minister of Tourism of Saint Lucia, Dr Ernest Hilaire also extended congratulations to Julien and wished her the best. He stated “The island stands proud as we know you continue to represent us in the best way possible.”
“We will support you until the very last race. Congratulations again JuJu,” noted Minister Hilaire.
