Ambassador Audrey Marks has been the permanent representative of Jamaica in the Organisation of American States. Audrey assumed the chair of the OAS Inter- American Council for Integral Development for the coming 6 months.
Ambassador Audrey Marks being OAS Inter- American Council for Integral Development, would be mainly focusing on increasing the cooperation among the Member of States and to enhance their integral development, and the primary efforts have to be put on eliminating the extreme poverty.
Ambassador Audrey Marks had assumed her chair on Monday, July 12, as ambassador Marks indicated that her country’s term as Chair of CIDI comes at a “critical time” and that the COVID 19-pandemic has forever transformed the way they manage their daily affairs.
Ambassador Audrey Marks said that they had been significantly and negatively affected by the social, economic, and environmental impacts, and as a consequence, that had become even more important for them to urgently design and implement variable policies, strategies, and realistic solutions to decrease their vulnerability and build resilience.
Ambassador Marks pointed out that the work plan before them has been set out achievable targets from then until the end of December 2021, and He certainly look forward to working with all delegations over the coming months.
During Ambassador Marks chairmanship, the OAS would be preparing to hold the upcoming 51st Regular Session of the General Assembly to be held from 10th to November 12 2021. Preparations would also be underway for the Sixth Meeting of Ministers and High Authorities of Science and Technology, which was fixed on December 7 2021, which would be chaired by Jamaica’s Minister of Science, Energy and Technology Daryl Vaz.
The CIDI is composed of all the Member States of the OAS, which meet in regular, special, specialized and sectoral meetings.
