India: Mizoram wins awards for outstanding disaster management
Mizoram has won the prestigious Central award for its outstanding work in disaster management in the institutional category, according to official sources.

Mizoram, India: Mizoram has won the prestigious Central award for its outstanding work in disaster management in the institutional category, according to official sources.
“The Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar is an annual prize created by the Center to honour the invaluable contribution and selfless devotion made by people, offices, departments, and organisations in the field of disaster management,” according to the update.
Lunglei Fire Station was one of two recipients. Odisha State Disaster Management Authority was the other beneficiary (OSDMA).
During the III sessions of the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (NPDRR-2023), which was held in New Delhi on Friday, Director of Mizoram Fire and Emergency Services C. Lalzahngoa and Superintendent of Police (SP) Fire and Emergency Francis Lalnuntluanga were presented with the award by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to official sources.
The award comes with a certificate and a monetary prize of Rs. 51 lakh.
After a significant forest fire that broke out in April 2021 on the fringes of Lunglei town in the southern portion of the state, Lunglei Fire Station was recognised for its great performance and dedication.
