India: 19 disabled students of Nagaland receive scholarships

Nagaland, India: Indus Towers and Shishu Sarothi granted scholarships to 19 students with disabilities during an orientation session on March 7 at Japfu Hotel, Kohima, Nagaland.

According to a news release from the Nagaland State Disability Forum (NSDF), Shishu Sarothi is implementing the Indus Towers Scholarship Program for Students with Disabilities 2022–2023, a CSR project of Indus Towers Ltd. Seema Jangid, the programme manager for the Indus Towers Scholarship Program (NE Area), offered a background of the educational situation for children with impairments in her speech. She expressed her sincere gratitude to Indus Towers for assisting youth with disabilities via education, which she said was like a key to unlocking doors for employment prospects and empowering those with impairments.

She thanked the Nagaland State Disability Forum for its assistance and support in helping to implement the programme as a partner and the focal point for the state of Nagaland, as well as the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Office for its ongoing assistance in reaching out to deserving students.

Rajender Gurung, Circle CEO, NE Assam, Indus Towers, addressed the crowd on this occasion and wished all the scholars a good future. He also urged them, adding that nothing was impossible without the appropriate motivation and a “never say die” mindset.

Diethono Nakhro, State Commissioner for People with Disabilities, Government of Nagaland, praised the student scholars and urged the youngsters to seize the chance. She thanked Shishu Sarothi and Indus Towers Ltd for their support of the scholarship programme and described how it has helped students in the area establish stable careers since its launch in 2016.

Tosheli Zhimomi, the program’s chief guest and the director of the government of Nagaland’s social welfare department, thanked the scholars from Nagaland and urged them to use the chances presented to them and make the most of the scholarship. She applauded Indus Towers Ltd. for the decent idea and the successful implementation of Shishu Sarothi’s scholarship programme, which supports the education of individuals with disabilities as part of Indus’ CSR project. In addition, he was a member of the National Association of Broadcasters.

Following the event to congratulate the chosen scholars, students were given an orientation to help them become familiar with the portal and the scholarship application process. In the meantime, the press release stated that 180 students across India would receive scholarships in 2022–2023 for academic, professional, and exam preparation.

Of the total, 162 are from the northeast region and 18 seats are allocated for students with disabilities from outside the northeast but who are studying in government-approved institutions of national importance in the country.
