Icon of the Seas to make its inaugural call on St Maarten on Feb 13

St Maarten: The Icon of the Seas, the Royal Caribbean International’s largest cruise ship in the world, is all set to make its inaugural call on St Maarten on Tuesday, 13^th February, 2024.

Port St Maarten extended congratulations to the Royal Caribbean International on its newest Icon of the Seas. They stated that it is a huge development for the cruise industry and for St Maarten.

“We will continue to work with RCI to increase and improve experiences for guests as a cruise destination when we look at the water park project to be constructed next to Port St Maarten. The RCI brand is also highly valued by the business community,” mentioned Port St Maarten Group.

CEO of Port St Maarten Group, Alexander Gumbs, said that they are hoping to receive several calls during the season of the Icon of the Seas. He also extended congratulations to Royal Caribbean International on “Star of the Seas”, its second Icon series ship.

Notably, the “Star of the Seas” is currently under construction in Finland and is expected to be delivered in August 2025 for Caribbean sailings out of Port Canaveral.

With the arrival of Icon of the Seas, St Maarten anticipated a thriving cruise tourism season. It will also play a pivotal role in enhancing the tourism sector of the island nation which will directly enhance its economic conditions.
