Heatwave increases in Barbados, BMS urges precaution
BMS representative urged the citizens of the nation to adopt precautionary measures as the heatwave is dominating the island.

Bridgetown: Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) representative urged the citizens of the nation to adopt precautionary measures as the heatwave is dominating the island.
As the heatwave is reaching to its peak, the Deputy Director of the BMS, Brian Murray advised the residents of Barbados to contain adequate supply of water. People are advised to modify their homes and use air conditioners to mitigate the heatwave.
He further stated that soon people will experience a hurricane season, which is considered to be an active one. Due to such conditions, he asked the citizens to not wait for the warning or advisory and should be prepared themselves for the upcoming weather conditions.
Moreover, the Marine and Haze levels have been given a ‘Yellow’ alert due to their bad conditions. The marine water is noted above the sea level. Bathers and fishermen are cautioned and advised to avoid getting into the sea.

The BMS Meteorologist forecasted that the people of Barbados may experience a cloudy sky at first, which will turn partly sunny in the afternoon with few isolated light showers. As per synopsis, a ridge pattern will remain dominant across the island.
Winds Forecast info
The winds are forecasted to be experienced as moderate easterly to east- south-easterly breeze from 30 to 35 km/hour, which is equal to 19 to 22 mph.
Marine Forecast info
The seas will remain moderate in open water, with swells ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 meters (5 to 8 feet). Small craft operators are cautioned to avoid swimming and fishing. Beachgoers are encouraged to use beaches with lifeguard stations.
Additionally, BMS has reported that there is no significant dust haze forecasted across the regions in Barbados. Some of the measures which are supposed to be taken are as follows,
- Secure objects that can sweep away by breaking wave activity.
- Extreme caution should be taken at beaches, along with western coasts.
- While venturing into the water, ensure to use on-duty lifeguards.
