Guyana: MOH hosts Dental Outreach at Nabaclis

Georgetown, Guyana: Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony, conducted a walk-through at the Dental Outreach held at the Nablaclis Health Centre, East Coast of Demerara, on the morning of August 20, 2023 (Sunday).

According to the latest update, the activity was organised and hosted by the Cheddi Jagan Dental School. Residents came out in their numbers to access dental care and services and other medical services.

The Health Minister stated that the recently occurred outreach forms part of the MOH’s ongoing oral health programme that stretches across the East Coast of Demerara and other parts of Guyana.

“We will try to do these types of outreaches as often as possible so that we can help people in the various village and other parts of the country. We have put in more dental units across the country (the last three years), we have more dentist now in different regions of Guyana, and we are increasing that forefront with more dental units on the ground, and we are placing it statistically,” he said, according to the update by the ministry of health.

The Ministry of Health has additionally extended its dental services to all ten (10) administrative regions. “Residents can now enjoy these services for free at any of the public institutions,” it mentioned.

In addition to this, the Ministry also informed about that over 50 students from various secondary schools in Georgetown on Friday wrapped up their work-study stint at the Ministry of Health.

Accordingly, they received a ceremonial send-off with interactions with Senior Officers within the Ministry, including Dr Frank Anthony, Minister of Health. They were also awarded certificates of participation from the Ministry’s Personnel Department.

Dr Anthony, during his brief remarks, wished the students well in their future endeavours and encouraged them to explore career opportunities in healthcare. Meanwhile, Principle Personnel Officer (Ag) Russell Williams extended her best wishes to the students on their next adventure, whether it be in the world of work or studies.
