Guyana: Ministry of Labour launches hard skill programmes in region 10
The Ministry of Labour of Guyana launched several hard skills programmes in region ten aimed to contribute meaningfully to the changing industrial sector.

Guyana: The Ministry of Labour of Guyana launched several hard skills programmes in region ten aimed to contribute meaningfully to the changing industrial sector. Minister of Labour, Joseph Hamilton, concluded a two-day visit to the region to monitor ongoing programmes.
The visit commenced on Tuesday, September 20 and concluded on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
Engaged by the minister earlier today were trainees of Garment Construction, Air Conditioning and Repairs, Commercial Food Preparation and Electrical Installation programmes.
Pursuing AC Repairs are fifteen trainees, comprised of six (6) males and nine (9) females; for Electrical Installation, there are eleven (11) males and four (4) females, totalling fifteen (15) trainees, which will conclude on October 20, 2022. As for Garment Construction and Commercial Food Preparation, there are twenty (20) trainees for each programme, all females, that are set to complete the programmes on September 30 and December 16, 2022, respectively.
Technical Officer with responsibility for Region Ten, Tenesha Dennis, among other officials, accompanied the minister to each training location within the mining region.
The approach made by Minister Hamilton to visit training programmes ongoing under the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) regionally serves to ensure that participants, including instructors and trainees, are keeping with the mandate to ensure there is successful completion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes countrywide.
