Guyana: BIT signs MOUs with First Assembly of God Wortmanville, Sabeelur Rashaad Islamic Training Center
Ministry of Labour of the Republic of Guyana has shared update regarding the signing ceremony of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).

Georgetown, Guyana: The Ministry of Labour of the Republic of Guyana has shared update regarding the signing ceremony of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). As per the update, the ceremony was held in the presence of Minister of Labour – Joseph Hamilton.
The MoUs were signed between the Board of Industrial Training (BIT), Generation Next of First Assembly of God Wortmanville (FAOGW), and Sabeelur Rashaad Islamic Training Center (SRITC).
These MOUs enable BIT to provide members of each body, as well as the general public, with the chance to gain skills training that improves interpersonal and professional skills required for employment and crime reduction within the various areas.
The Ministry further informed that the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Saskia Eastman-Onwuzirike, Senior Technical Officers Leon Greaves and Bevon Shepherd, and Human Resource Officer Melinda Kelly comprised the BIT team.
Presiding Bishop Dr Murtland Massiah, Reverend Dr Marcel Huston, Executive Pastor Dr Wilbert Lee, Senior Assistant Pastor, and Reverend Winston Assanah were among the FAOGW representatives. Meanwhile, a group from SRITC, led by Chairman, Rayad Khan, was in attendance.
In addition to this, the Labour Ministry informed that several members of the Ministries of Labour and Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation met to finalize arrangements for the upcoming 12th International Labour Organization (ILO) Meeting of Caribbean Ministers of Labour to be hosted in Guyana from May 23-25, 2023.
This much-anticipated meeting will allow Caribbean Labour Ministers and Social Partners to engage in more in-depth discussions and contributions to the planned Global Coalition on Social Justice.
As per the update by the Labour Ministry, it also serves as a forum for engagement with key regional social partners, the establishment of priorities and key strategies for ILO support for Just Transition in the 2024-2025 biennium, and the development of Quality Apprenticeship frameworks.
Joseph Hamilton, Minister of Labour, with the support of Permanent Secretary Bishram Kuppen; Ambassador Ivan Evelyn, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Chief of Protocol; Gweneth King, Occupational Safety and Health Consultant; Dhaneshwar Deonarine Chief Labour Officer, Chief Recruitment and Manpower Officer, Yolanda Grant, Ayana George-Mathieson, Senior Public Relations Officer, were in the meeting.
