Guyana: 26-year-old miner travelling in bus arrested with 52.6 grams of marijuana
A 26-year-old miner of Guyana who was travelling from the bus was arrested on Monday for the offence of possessing 52.6 grams of marijuana. The suspect’s apprehension was done under a stop-and-search exercise conducted by the officials.

Georgetown, Guyana: A 26-year-old miner who was travelling by bus was arrested on Monday for the offence of possessing 52.6 grams of marijuana. The suspect’s apprehension was done under a stop-and-search exercise conducted by the officials.
The suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Kenford Gorden and a resident of Mango Landing Region #7. As per the reports, the authorities intercepted the Route #72 minibus (#BAD 9554) in which the suspect was travelling.
Subsequently, the officers conducted a search of the vehicle, driver and passengers. While conducting the search, the authorities found a haversack from Kenford Gordon. The officers later held a search of the bag and found several things from inside the bag.
The bag contained a transparent plastic-wrapped parcel with leaves, seeds and stems which were suspected to be cannabis. Along with that, the haversack also contained clothing, footwear and personal items of Gordon.
The narcotics found from Gordon were weighed by the authorities, and they weighed 52.6 grams of cannabis. The suspect was told of the offence he committed and was cautioned for the same. The authorities are conducting a detailed investigation into the matter to get the culprit punished for the offence.
Notably, Gordon has been placed in custody currently and is assisting the officers with the further investigation process.
Several residents of the community took to their social media accounts and expressed their views on the news.
One person commented, “The authorities are doing a great job by conducting such search exercises; god knows what that person would have done with such a huge amount of cannabis.”
Another person commented the following “Great job by the officials, it’s good that they are doing their work so diligently, the over consumption of drugs is really injurious to health, strict action needs to be taken to stop this.”
The residents of the authorities have appreciated the authorities for conducting such exercises, prioritizing the safety and security of the nation. Also, they have requested the administration to impose strict measures in order to safeguard younger generation from consumption of drugs and any other narcotic substance.
