Grenadian Kareem Sharpe wins his first-ever Suriname Under-14 tennis cup 2024

Grenadian Kareem Sharpe who represented his country for the first time in the Central American & Caribbean Tennis Confederation Suriname Under-14 Tennis Cup 2024 emerged as the sole contender and claimed victory.

This championship which was scheduled to take place from October 5th to 11th, 2024, plays a huge role in encouraging, directing, organizing, regulating, governing and disseminating the practice of tennis.

The minimum age required to participate in the Under-14 COTECC Circuit tournament is to be 11 years old on the day that the U14 tournament begins. And, the maximum age is to turn 14 during the year of competition, born between January, 1, 2010 and December 31, 2013.

While extending congratulations to Kareem Sharpe, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Grenada stated that he was the only participant from the nation who gave a tough competition to every other contender.

They highlighted his dedication, perseverance, and passion for the sport of tennis and called him an inspiration who has set the bench mark for other young athletes who aspires to represent their nation on a global stage. “This incredible achievement will surely inspire others. Keep shining. We’re proud of you.”

The Grenada Tennis Association also acknowledged the player and extended congratulations to him on winning the finals of Second Draw at the U14 Suriname Tennis Cup. They noted that it was the first regional tournament of Kareem Sharpe who proved his worth that why he has been selected to participate in the event.

“Your first regional tournament and you are already shining! We are looking forward to your bright tennis future,” noted Grenada Tennis Association.

The Association further asserted that the weekend was truly exceptional for all the players of Grenada, particularly the U12’s and U14’s who have showcased some of the outstanding performances and have brought glory to the name of their nation.

“This weekend we were treated to some exciting plays from the U12’s and U14’s,” noted Grenada Tennis Association.

The results of U12’s and U14’s are as follows:

Boys U12: Alain Drigo – 1st place, Garrison Stanislaus 2nd place & Nathaniel Cobb – 3rd place.

Girls U12: Gabrielle Hobson – 1st place and Lemyah Francis – 2nd place.

Boys U14: Kareem Sharpe – 1st place and Alain Drigo 2nd place

Girls U14: Annabelle Stanislaus – 1st place and Janiyah Lewis 2nd place.
