St George’s, Grenada: The government of Grenada has announced that a few areas of the country will soon have new schools, as per the update shared by the Ministry of Education of Grenada.
As per the reports by the Ministry, the St David’s and St Andrew communities will soon have new schools for the students and staff of the St David’s Catholic Secondary, Grenada Christian Academy and St Andrew’s Anglican Primary schools.
As per the update, the Grenada Christian Academy is at the most advanced stage in the process. A formal announcement and contract signing can be expected in the upcoming weeks. A sod-turning ceremony is expected by the end of the second quarter of 2023.
Furthermore, it outlined that St David’s Catholic Secondary School has had severe infrastructural issues during the last few years, disrupting class time, among other things. A decision was made to have a new school building. This school will be relocated to Marlmount, St David.
The St Andrew’s Anglican Primary School on Victoria Street, Grenville, was damaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and later destroyed by fire. This school will now be rebuilt on the original site, as per the reports by the Ministry of Education of Grenada.
It has furthermore clarified that once official business has concluded, steps to realize actual construction of the St David’s Catholic Secondary and St Andrew’s Anglican Primary will begin.
