Dominica: PM Skerrit to receive José Martí (Orden José Martí) in Havana
Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit is currently on tour to Cuba, where he met with the Cuban President – Miguel DCuíaz-Canel Bermúdez.

Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit is currently on tour to Cuba, where he met with the Cuban President – Miguel DCuíaz-Canel Bermúdez.
During the tour to Cuba, PM Skerrit would receive the Order José Martí (Orden José Martí), which is a state honour in the Latin American country. The Order was named so after José Martí, who is known as the national hero of Cuba. The design of the award was realized by the Cuban sculptor José Delara.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit landed in Cuba on April 25, 2022 (Sunday), where he was welcomed by Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, Cuban Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs. During the trip, PM Skerrit and President of Cuba – Miguel DCuíaz-Canel Bermúdez would carry out other activities as well.
Upon reaching the Republic of Cuba, Prime Minister stated, “I received a warm welcome at the start of an official visit to the Republic of Cuba.”
Prime Minister Skerrit is on a three-day trip to Cuba and will return back to Dominica on April 27, 2022.
He further shared his schedule and stated, “Over the next days, I will hold talks with the President of the Republic of Cuba, H.E Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez, meet with Dominican students there, and participate in a ceremony to lay wreaths at the José Martí Memorial at the Plaza de la Revolución.”
“I have already reaffirmed our commitment to friendly relations with Cuba built on sincerity and understanding, and I welcome this opportunity for further dialogue and cooperation between our two countries,” outlined PM Skerrit.

President Bermúdez welcomed the Prime Minister of Dominica with a hug and anticipated strengthening unity with the Caribbean Region, especially Dominica. “A big welcome hug to Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, who arrived today at Cuba on an official visit. Until the 27th, we will be sharing experiences and projects. The strength of the Caribbean is in unity. #CubaPorLaVida,” President stated in the welcoming tweet.
