Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit address the youth of the country who participated in the National Youth Parliament carded for March 23 and March 24, 2022.
Prime Minister, after meeting the youngsters, stated that the youth parliament would encourage the youth of the nation and would, indeed, promote the involvement of youth towards the democracy and governance.
Prime Minister Skerrit stated, “On Friday, I addressed the thirty young people who will participate in the National Youth Parliament, carded for March 23-24, 2022 at the House of Assembly.”
“The youth parliament encourages active citizenship among youth and promotes involvement in democracy and governance,” mentioned the PM.
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit further congratulated the Executive of the National Youth Council of Dominica for commencing this activity, which is in the favour of national interest.
“I congratulate the Executive of the National Youth Council of Dominica for initiating this activity to give participants a voice on issues of national interest,” Prime Minster notified.
He further emphasised the importance of youth parliament and said that the members of parliament will hold the debate related to the housing development in Dominica, international airport, mandatory vaccination, etc.
“The youth parliamentarians will debate matters relating to Marijuana as an Economic Driver, Mandatory Vaccination, Housing Development, Geothermal Energy and the International Airport,” PM concluded.
Earlier, the government suggested that it will expand a youth skills training programme.
