Dominica: Minister Cozier Frederick receives key to new garbage collecting truck
The government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has taken another step to enhance solid waste management across the island country.

Roseau, Dominica: The government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has taken another step to enhance solid waste management across the island country. The nation has received a new tipper truck, which will assist in the collection of garbage on a daily basis.
The keys to the trucks were accepted by the Minister of Environment and Rural Modernization and Kalinago Upliftment, Cozier Frederick. According to the update shared by the Dominican government, the National Authorizing Office (NAO) has donated the truck to the country, which has been adopting new policies for the betterment of the country.
The update was shared by the GIS Dominica through their official Facebook page. The update by the handle stated, “Environment, Rural Modernization Minister and Kalinago Upliftment Cozier Frederick received the keys for a brand new tipper truck to be used by the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation. The truck is to be used in the day-to-day collection of garbage. The truck was donated by the Government of Dominica through the National Authorizing Office (NAO).”
Earlier, the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation (DSWMC) announced that it would be undertaking an initiative to improve litter bins in Roseau City during the month of February. The announcement was made by General Manager Florian Mitchell in the midst of an interview with state-owned radio, DBS.
He furthermore highlighted that the government has been planning to continue the community storage by distributing bins at the rural level. Additionally, he revealed that the management department has distributed over 1100 bins to date. He also stated that the corporation has been putting programmes together to upgrade waste management in the country.
Mitchell stated that DSWMC has been doing work days and nights in collaboration with the OECS (Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States) to advance the recycling facility in the Caribbean country.
