Dominica: The government of the Commonwealth of Dominica officially announced a new housing project – Future Housing Programme, with the tagline Empowerment through Ownership- A Path to Generational Wealth. Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit stated that the words of the tagline had been chosen wisely so that the objective was clear.
The project was announced on July 16, 2022 (Saturday). Under this new initiative, affordable and safe homes will be provided to people 45 and younger.
PM Skerrit said the first phase would target young professionals and young people who are residents of the Commonwealth of Dominica, and later it will also expand to the diaspora.
Prime Minister Skerrit has highlighted that homeownership is not just putting a roof overhead. This programme will provide affordable, safe as well as resilient housing to the young population at less cost than the cost of construction.
“This is our way of subsiding overall cost of the home so that the cost is within your financial range as young professionals and young Dominicans,” he stated.
The programme will witness the construction of homes for sale to young professionals looking to invest in their homes and serve the country’s private or public sector.
The Prime Minister shared some benefits of the programme while addressing the general public. Furthermore, he lauded the government and mentioned that it is working towards taking Dominica where people would like to see it.
