Dominica COVID update: 115 new infections reported

Dominica: Dominica has recorded 115 new cases of the COVID-19 virus on Monday, 13 September 2021, taking the total toll of active cases – to 576, as per to the COVID-19 update report of the Health Ministry.

So far, a total of 2050 individuals have been recovered from the deadly mutant, and in total, 190 patients have been discharged from the hospital.

The report further notes that a total of 61,852 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the island country, out of which 25,640 were RT-PCR tests, and 36,212 people were tested with the Rapid Antigen Test method.

The island country has so far recorded a total of 2,634 confirmed cases of the contagious COVID-19 mutant, and eight people lost their lives.

According to the report by the health ministry, in Dominica till now, a total of 23163 individuals have received their first jab of the coronavirus vaccine. In comparison, around 20571 individuals have taken their second jab of the vaccine and are now fully vaccinated.

Worldwide, till date, there are a total of 226,092,433 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, a total of 202,713,124 individuals have been recovered from the deadliest virus, and 4,652,467 people scummed to COVID-19.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, along with the Health Ministry, is continuously urging the citizens to abide by the COVID-19 health protocols such as wearing masks, frequently sanitizing, maintaining social distance, etc., and taking their jabs the COVID-19 vaccine so as to reduce the chances of transmission and to help the country in achieving the target of herd immunity.

Businesses and various tourism sites have been reopened in the island country. This outbreak has impacted chiefly the Caribbean islands, and being tourism as the primary source of income generation, the nations saw a huge decline in the sector as they had to close the tourism sites amid the COVID-19 outbreak when it was at its peak, but now the nations especially Dominica is recovering at a high pace from the mutant.
