Trinidad and Tobago: UNC Leader Kamla Persad responded to the recent statements of Terrance Deyalsingh, Minister of Health, and the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Amery Browne, on writing her letter to Indian PM.
She stated, her response to both of these deadbeat Ministers is that if you were only doing your job, she wouldn’t have to do it for you. Surely these PNM muppets must know that they have a constitutional duty to ensure the safe welfare of our citizens, especially in times such as these when it is factual that our administration has abdicated its urgent responsibility to protect our citizens.
Furthermore, she added, From day one of this global Pandemic, we asked this Government to work together to protect our people, yet they ignored our calls. As a result, I cannot sit and allow our people to exist in uncertainty as it relates to vaccinations while the Caribbean moves ahead of all of us.
Additionally, she stated, Only last week did Minister Deyalsingh display gross incompetence by not knowing that the administration of Barbados gifted Trinidad and Tobago 2000 Covid-19 vaccines. Minster Deyalsingh had falsely claimed these vaccines were a compliment from India, which created massive embarrassment for our nation in the eyes of our CARICOM neighbors.
Moreover, “That the Minister of Health had begun vaccinating frontline workers with vaccines of origins he did not know gross negligence for which Minister Deyalsingh should have been fired,” she added.
As for Minister Browne, she would like to point out to him that according to the recent news resources, five more Caribbean countries are going to receive batches of Covid -19 Vaccines as a gift from India.
“How is it that our CARICOM members have all managed to source vaccine gifts from India, yet Trinidad and Tobago have not had a similar arrangement?” she added.
The nation must ask Minister Browne what exactly he has been doing for the past six months? Is Minister Browne so bad at his service he can’t arrange to collect vaccines from a nation giving them away? Is Minister Browne the new Dennis Moses?
This PNM government cannot, on the one hand, tell us the Covid-19 pandemic is so severe that they need to immediately withdraw 3 Billion US dollars from the Heritage and Stabilization Fund and, on the other hand, say it’s improper to suggest Trinidad and Tobago is reeling from the pandemic.
“I make no amends for writing to PM Modi on behalf of all citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. We need to act urgently to reopen our economy, protect our health care and frontline worker,s as well as return our nationals stranded abroad back home,” she stated.
