Delta Airlines to offer direct flights to Turks and Caicos

Delta Airlines announced the non-stop direct flights to the Turks and Caicos. The flights will operate weekly on Saturdays and the inaugural flight took place on 20th January 2024, from Minnesota to Providenciales.

The announcement of the operation was made by the Turks and Caicos Islands Airport Authority. The inaugural weekly, non-stop services arrived with 125 passengers on board.

Meanwhile, Flight DL 1856 departed with 68 passengers out of the Howard Hamilton International Airport into Minneapolis, which is Delta’s second-largest hub location.

Notably, Delta will operate weekly on Saturdays and the service will run until 6th April 2024. The Airline is using its Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which have the capacity to provide service to 186 passengers.

Minister of Tourism of Turks and Caicos, Josephine Connolly, expressed her excitement about this new non-stop service to the United States mid-west.

While expressing her happiness, she stated, “We are thrilled to have direct access to Minneapolis, which will target lifestyle luxury travellers from feeder markets such as Fargo and Minot in North Dakota and Omaha, Nebraska.”

She also added that Turks and Caicos will use marketing intelligence data to increase the number of luxury lifestyle travellers, which will increase the frequency of Delta’s non-stop services to the Turks and Caicos Islands.

She also shed light on strengthening their partnership with Delta Airlines and stated that “this will be the airline’s third route to our destination, which exhibits their continued commitment to helping us provide airlifts to our country from the United States.”

Josephine Connolly also extended gratitude and appreciated her team at Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority and the Ministry for their unwavering commitment and dedication to making this dream a reality.

It was also noted by the island’s tourism authority that the flight to Minneapolis-Saint Paul has the potential to attract more than 9.5 million visitors.

“Wish it wasn’t only on Saturdays! We don’t need more weekend options; we need more weekday options, PLEASE,” wrote Cheryl ‘Burse Geihl.

Another person with a Facebook handle, Carmen Repnow, commented, “This is the best news.”
