Delbter ‘Butu’ Samuel passes away, PM Terrance Drew mourns loss
The news of the passing away of Delbert ‘Butu’ Samuel also famously known as the Fruits Man has deeply saddened the entire region of St. Kitts and Nevis. Along with people, the Prime Minister of the nation Dr. Terrance Drew also mourned loss of his demise through his official social media accounts.

Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis: The news of the passing away of Delbert ‘Butu’ Samuel also famously known as the Fruits Man has deeply saddened the entire region of St. Kitts and Nevis. Along with people, the Prime Minister of the nation Dr. Terrance Drew also mourned loss of his demise through his official social media accounts.
While taking to his Facebook account, PM Terrance Drew extended condolences to his wife, family, St. Peter’s community, friends and the Anglican Church. He called him a vibrant and fun-loving person as a community advocate who has volunteered in various areas.
PM Drew also recalled his meeting with Butu and stated that he met him as a fellow 4-H member when he moved to the St. Peter’s community. He extended gratitude for his invaluable contribution and said that the region is better because of his hard work and unwavering determination towards his work.
PM Terrance Drew also extended support to Butu’s wife and noted, “Mrs. Samuel, please know that we love you and that we are here for you. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority also expressed grief on Butu’s death and stated that he will forever hold a special place in their memories and history of their club. The club through their official Facebook handle extended gratitude to Butu for his valuable 15 years to the growth and development of the club.
Notably, Delbert ‘Butu’ Samuel was also a recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award which he received on the prestigious occasion of International Men’s Day in November 2023. His recognition and accomplishments are a testament to his unwavering commitment and dedication towards his duties.
Moreover, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Denzil Douglas also extended condolences to the deceased. He extended prayers and comfort to the family, friends and communities of Butu.
“Heartfelt condolences to the family, extended family and friends of Delbert Samuel, on his passing. May his soul Rest in Peace,” noted Dr. Denzil Douglas.
