Delano Bart represents St Kitts and Nevis at 23rd Commonwealth Law Conference

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: The 23rd Commonwealth Law Conference has been concluded in Goa, the Indian state on March 9, 2023. The conference was held from March 5 to 9, 2023 and was inaugurated by the Governor of Goa, PS Sreedharan Pillai. It was also attended by Kiren Rijuju, the Union Minister for Law and Justice and Dr Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa.
The conference witness the attendance of 500 delegates from 52 countries. This conference brings together in one place lawyers from across the world including members of the OECS Bar with St Kitts and Nevis represented by Delano Bart, KC (CLC Council Member); Midge Morton and I.
On Day 1, St Kitts and Nevis was in the spotlight as featured speakers on the following topics:
1. Financial Services Best Practices – the role of lawyers in maintaining the highest standards- Delano Bart, KC; and
2. Employment Law – a new age of employer responsibility after COVID – Maurisha Robinson
After participating in the event and representing the country, Bart stated, “It was an honor and privilege for me to be a featured speaker and sitting on a panel with top lawyers from New Zealand, England and Zambia thereby showcasing how the Federation handled COVID in these challenging times.”
Furthermore, she expressed pleasure and mentioned, “I drew reference from the quote: The true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable member’s by Gandhi after all we are in India. Such an awesome experience!”
The 23rd Commonwealth Law Conference was being hosted under the theme – “Common Challenges in Uncommon Times.”
As per various updates, the Minister of Law and Justice of India, Kiren Rijiju addressed the attendees and put light on the importance of the conference and mentioned that it is a platform to discuss critical issues. Further, he highlighted that the government has been committed towards good governance and welfare of the people.
