CPL 2023: PM Terrance Drew cheers on St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis – Dr Terrance Drew, visited the Warner Park Cricket Stadium and wished his team luck and success in the tournament.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: The Caribbean Premier League has started with a bang in the region. For St Kitts and Nevis, the sporting event started with a nail-biting match between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Jamaica Tallawahs. In this regard, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis – Dr Terrance Drew, visited the Warner Park Cricket Stadium and wished his team luck and success in the tournament.

According to the reports, PM Dr Drew enjoyed the match and cheered for a team of St Kitts and Nevis. PM of St Kitts also shared his picture in the jersey of SKN Patriot through his official social media account.

While sharing the picture, he noted, “CPL 2023 Cricket match, Patriots vs Tallawahs at Warner Park Cricket Stadium last night.”

Earlier, the Premier of Nevis and the leader of the Opposition of St Kitts and Nevis – Mark Brantley, wished the team loads of success in the tournament. The politician took his official X account and mentioned, “Great to meet the owner and co-CEO for the St Kitts Nevis Patriots cricket team and to wish them the best of success in this year’s CPL tournament. Excited at the partnership between the Patriots and the Nevis Tourism Authority and the development plans outlined.”

Unfortunately, the result of the match did not fall in the basket of St Kitts and Nevis Patriot, and the team lost its first match by eight (8) wickets. At the end of the game, the scoreboard read: SNP – 156/9 (20) and JT – 157/2 (16.3).

Following the loss, the captain of SKN, Evin Lewis, said, “Not the start we wanted to get, lost three wickets in powerplay. Still happy with how the middle order pushed. The pitch was two-paced in the first innings.”

He added, “Everyone will be looking forward to batting second, pretty much heavy dew, and it was surprising. I will always back my bowlers. We didn’t go well tonight. Feeling comfortable, we have a good tea,” according to the sports news portal Cricbuzz.
