COVID in Antigua and Barbuda: 105 new cases reported, 194 recovered

Saint John’s: Antigua and Barbuda recorded a total of 105 additional cases of the COVID-19 virus on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, as per the data shared by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Environment. With the arrival of these new cases, the total count of active COVID-19 infections rises to 287.

Out of these active COVID-19 cases, nine individuals are in the hospital facilities, and the remaining 278 individuals have isolated themselves at their respective homes. The health ministry further informed that out of around (9) hospitalized cases, two (2) individuals are in severe condition, while one (1) moderate and six (6) have mild symptoms. 

Meanwhile, on February 1, 2022, one hundred and ninety-four (194) individuals got recovered from the deadliest COVID-19 virus, taking the total recovery rate to 6,318 so far, according to the data shared by the health ministry in its update report. 

Since the coronavirus outbreak emerged in Antigua and Barbuda, a total of 6,732 confirmed infections of the novel coronavirus have been recorded by the healthcare facilities of the island country. 

A total of two hundred and ninety-eight (298) samples were processed, of which 105 individuals tested positive for the virus, the health ministry noted. 

The COVID-19 vaccination statistics of Antigua and Barbuda:  

As of February 1, 2022, there are a total of 2,752 individuals are partially vaccinated by receiving their at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine; on the other hand, there are a total of 60,492 cases who have received their required number of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines and are now fully inoculated now against the virus.  

The health ministry officials have further asked the general public to strictly abide by the COVID-19 health protocols, such as – wearing masks and covering the face properly, washing and sanitizing hands often, and maintaining a physical distance. It further encouraged the unvaccinated population to get themselves vaccinated as soon as possible.
