Bolivia: Former Bolivian President Jeanine Anez Chavez stated that she had been given four-month pre-trial detention after being arrested on accusation linked to the ousting of her predecessor Evo Morales.
Morales alleges he was the victim of a coup d’etat for which Anez was accountable.
Reports revealed that Anez, arrested on Saturday on the particular charges of terrorism, sedition, and conspiracy, refuses any wrongdoing.
After learning her predestination from Judge Regina Santa Cruz in a virtual hearing, Former Bolivian President Jeanine Anez tweeted: “They are sending me to detention for four months to anticipate a trial for a ‘coup’ that never happened.”

Furthermore, Anez tweeted, “From here, I call on Bolivia to have faith and hope. One day, together, we will build a better Bolivia.”
As the most senior parliamentarian still standing after Morales and his associates fled the nation in November 2019 after weeks of unrest over disputed elections, right-leaning conservative Anez expected power in a caretaker capacity.
Spot the difference. Left: Patricia Arce the mayor of a small town in #Bolivia attacked by opposition protesters. Right: Coup leader Jeanine Añez arrested for overthrowing the legitimate Bolivian government. This is how the global south deals with global imperialism. pic.twitter.com/uERmfKEQ0t

On the other hand, people on Twitter have stated, “#Bolivia regime abuse of power against former President Jeanine Añez arrests her lying she is responsible for “coup.” This is the vendetta of Juan Ramon Quintana, Evo Morales strong man married to Loreta Telleria Escobar, and they have close connections to USA leftwing think tanks.”
“It’s too early to know the outcome, but the fact that Anez was just arrested and is facing terrorism and conspiracy charges in #Bolivia for her role in the fascist coup is a positive sign for justice there,” Another user stated.
