Beautification project commences in Carriacou: Authorities

Hillsborough, Carriacou: The Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and the Local Government of Grenada updated the general public about the transformation and construction work in Carriacou.
Recently, the government has outlined the beginning of a beautification project.
The Ministry took its official Facebook handle to share this news of public interest. The post on social media read, “The landscape and environment of the different villages in Carriacou are about to be positively transformed.”
The Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique further outlined, “This as another beautification project has commenced, this time in the boat-building community of Windward.”
According to the official social media post, the Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government –Tevin Andrews, was recently commended at the budget consultation for his dynamic leadership, which has led to a number of significant projects in the twin isle parish.
Reportedly, he noted his commitment to the transformational agenda of the government.
“It’s about more than just enhancing the aesthetics; it’s about fostering a sense of pride, unity, and prosperity in our beloved community.” Minister Andrews said.
This update regarding the beautification was shared by the Ministry after the government presented the 2024 Budget consultation. As per an update, the redesigning and development of the town of Hillsborough is seriously being considered by the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government under the leadership of Minister Tevin Andrews.
According to the social media post informing about the budget consultation, speaking at the 2024 budget stakeholder consultation at the Hillsborough Government School, Minister Andrews said discussions on the enhancement of Hillsborough, Carriacou’s main town, will be held in the coming months.
Over the last few months, the Public Works Division within the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government embarked on the widening of several streets in and around the town of Hillsborough.
Additionally, it was outlined that Minister Andrews said the budget consultation, which is led by a team from the Ministry of Finance, should be seen as an opportunity for citizens to add their voice to the development of their parish and the direction it should go.
In addition, he listed the removal of a number of Imani trainees from the programme to Ministry staff; the upgrading of fisheries and agricultural stations; a significant number of road projects, which include the Belair/Hospital Road, Lauriston and Morne Jaloux; introduction of the licensing unit; and hiring of an on-island electrical inspector and the provision of vetinerary services as part of the achievements of his Ministry over the last year.
Moreover, some of the suggestions for the new budget year include improvement to the bus terminal in Hillsborough and skills training facilities.
