The Vector Control Unit, which operates under the Ministry of Health and Wellness, has announced the fogging schedule for the upcoming week to target all mosquito breeding sites.

Barbados Vector Control Unit announces fogging schedule for St Michael and Christ Church

Barbados: The Vector Control Unit, which operates under the Ministry of Health and Wellness, has announced the fogging schedule for the upcoming week to target all mosquito breeding sites. Beginning on September 9, the unit will cover the localities of St. Michael and Christ Church and conclude this week’s schedule on September 13. 

 It is to be noted that the neighbouring island nations like St Vincent and the Grenadine and Trinidad and Tobago are facing the dengue outbreak again. So, to follow the precautionary measures the Vector Control unit of Barbados will target all the Mosquito breeding sites in St. Michael and Christ Church. 

 The unit has shared that the team, during the first three days of the week, will undertake the fogging in St. Michael. 

 Beginning on Monday, September 9, the Unit will visit the localities of Tudor Bridge, Hindsbury Road, Dr. Kerr Land, Prescod Bottom, Mottley Land, Brathwaite Road, Field Gap, Country Road, Progressive Road, and Laundry Road to conduct the fogging exercise. 

 Following this on Tuesday, September 10, the team will cover areas that include Peterkins Road, 2nd Avenue Mannings Land, Bamboo Gap, Barbarees Hill, Eagle Hall, Monteith Gardens, Strathclyde, and surrounding areas. 

The districts that will be sprayed on Wednesday, September 11, are Bank Hall Cross Road, Mansion Road, Prince of Wales, King George Road, Queen Mary Road, King Edward Road, Buckingham Road, Queen Victoria Road, 2nd Avenue Sealy Land, Powder Road, Happy Cot and Gilkes Road. 

 Further on Thursday, September 12, the Unit will visit communities in Christ Church that are South Ridge, Fort George Heights, Upton Terrace, Little Kent, Kent Ridge, The Grove, Edey Village, St. David’s and Staple Grove. 

The team mentioned that on the concluding day for the week that is Friday, September 13 they will target the locality of Michael and will fog at Powder Road, Station Hill, Savannah Road, Leinster Road, Waterford, 1st to 3rd Avenue Station Hill, Trainmore Lane, 1st to 5th Avenue Park Road, Longford Place and the areas that are nearby and have been left. 

 Additionally, the unit shared that fogging would take place every day from September 9-13 between 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Further, it has advised all the residents to open their windows and doors so that it would allow the spray to enter. 

The Vector Control Unit of Barbados has shared that the children should be kept inside while the team is fogging in the locality and should not be allowed to play in the spray. 

 The unit stated that in case any locality in Barbados is missed due to circumstances beyond their control, the team will revisit the area and fog it to ensure safety.
