Barbados PM Mia Mottley meets Ghanaian Tourism Minister Ibrahim Mohammed Awal
Prime Minister Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley received a courtesy call from the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Ghana, Ibrahim Mohammed Awal.

Bridgetown, Barbados: Prime Minister Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley received a courtesy call from the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Ghana, Ibrahim Mohammed Awal. Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, to Ilaro Court, was accompanying the Tourism Minister on his official visit to the Caribbean nation.
The Ministers arrived in Barbados on Africa Day, which is commemorated on May 25 every year.
PM Mottley expressed gratitude and mentioned, “As Barbados and the world celebrate May 25 as Africa Day, I was blessed to mark this occasion by welcoming the Ghanaian Minister of Tourism, Ibrahim Mohammed Awal and the Deputy Minister of the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Ministry, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong to Ilaro Court.”
She further outlined that the reality is that so many Barbadians can trace their roots back to Ghana and the surrounding areas. We share a common history, a common culture and a common spirit.
PM Mia Mottley added that with this common spirit of unity and solidarity in mind, we used today’s opportunity to meet and discuss how we can build on the work done to create greater linkages between our people in Barbados and the Caribbean and in Africa.
Prime Minister Mottley also mentioned that Africa and Barbados have always worked hand-in-hand, contributing to mutual growth and development. “Whether it be through increased airlift and connectivity, mutual business development, cultural exchanges or agricultural development, we recognise that there is much success to be had when we connect and collaborate as African people,” she stated.
In addition to this, while concluding her message, she thanked the Government of Ghana and the guests from the nation for their wonderful visit. The PM also wished the Africans on Africa Day and anticipated strengthening the bilateral relationship between Barbados and Africa.
PM Mia Amor Mottley noted, “I say thank you and blessings to my Ghanaian family for today’s visit! And on behalf of the Government and the people of Barbados, I say a happy and blessed Africa Day to all African people everywhere!”
