Bahamas: Second version of ‘Ask the Doctors’ virtual meet to take place on February 1

Nassau: The Ministry of Health and Wellness of the Bahamas, in alliance with the Office of the Prime Minister, will be hosting a Virtual Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. This live virtual conference will commence at 8 pm and is a part of a public education campaign called “Together Against COVID-19“.  

This Town Hall meeting is a consecutive second part of the last Town Hall titled “Ask The Doctors” Part 2. It will feature health professionals and experts who will address the questions and queries of the general public related to the COVID virus, vaccines, boosters and overall protection and personal responsibility during the ongoing outbreak. 

Bahamas’ health ministry asks the general public to take part in the meeting so that their myths and queries related to the matter can be solved. The citizens can send their questions about the mutant, masks, testing, vaccines, the booster shot, and more – at opmcommunications@bahamas.gov.bs by Thursday, January 27, 2022. 

The questions will be addressed on Tuesday, February 1 at 8 pm live on the Office of the Prime Minister’s official Facebook page.  

Under its initiative of ‘Together Against COVID-19′ drive, the Bahamas government has been disseminating free masks vaccines and launched a free testing pilot programme across the provinces of the island. The government has also been continuously encouraging the unvaccinated Bahamians to come forward and take their required jabs of the COVID-19 vaccines to ensure their safety against the virus, as new variants are merging in the world. 

So far, there are a total of 158,965 persons in the Bahamas who are partially inoculated and counts for 40.4% of the total population. Meanwhile, a total of 150,372 individuals have taken their required number of vaccine doses and are fully immunised, which is 38.2% of the total population. The data further notes that around 3.7% of the total eligible population has received their booster shots.
