Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Minister for Foreign Affairs of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil Douglas extended congratulations to the pioneers of Antioch Baptist Church on completing its 61 years.
The Antioch Baptist church was built six decades ago, on 5th March 1963 and was the first established Baptist Church in St Kitts and Nevis. It was established by the late Reverend, Dr William Manasa Connor in West Basseterre.
Not only this, Connor also laid the foundation of several Sunday Schools in the island nation. The two schools he started include St Johnson Village and St Paul’s.
The concept of Sunday School came to his mind when he observed many underprivileged, unwanted and neglected children running around in the village. Therefore, he established Sunday school with a vision to raise those despised and neglected children.
Moreover, Minister Douglas took to his social media handle and congratulated Pastor Lincoln Darrel Connor, the nephew of Reverend Dr William Connor and also the Congregation of the Antioch Baptist Church for celebrating 61 years of spiritual guidance and development.
The Minister described the Church as a Beacon of light and hope and described its 61 years in a beautiful quote. The quote read as “You have come this far, “61 years” by Faith leaning on the Lord.” You cannot come down now! You cannot stop now.”
The celebration of 61 years started with a special Bible study and the congregants participated in an impromptu “Bible Drill.” It was chaired by the lead pastor, Lincoln Connor.
The church also held a bible study to gain a deeper insight into the religion and understand the teachings of the Bible.
The Ministry of Church continued its holistic mission in a brand-new building, aiming to provide spiritual guidance along with the development of values in every individual.
“Today, the Ministry of the Church continues, not in its former building, but in a brand-new edifice which was erected to continue its holistic mission, to provide not only spiritual guidance but wholesome development,” mentioned Denzil Douglas.
Several residents of St Kitts and Nevis also expressed their excitement and extended best wishes to the church by commenting under the post shared by Minister Denzil Douglas.
One person with a Facebook account Shez Sherillia Massicot commented “Thank you! We will continue to support our leader by the guidance of the holy spirit.”
“God is good what a legacy our beloved Pastor William Connor has left,” wrote Olga Morris.
Another person with a Facebook handle Naomi Harris commented the following “Congratulations Antioch Baptist Church St Kitts You come thus far by Faith learning on the Lord Amen.”
