6th Homicide at Old Montrose in SVG, leaves people fearing about security

Kingstown, St Vincent and the Grenadines: A man was shot dead by an unknown assailant in the Block 2000 at Old Montrose on Saturday while he was going to his work. The incident marked the sixth homicide of the year 2024 so far. 

According to the reports, it is believed that when the deceased was heading to his work, he was stopped and killed by an unidentified perpetrator. The assailant opened fire at the victim in the Block 2000 vicinity of Old Montrose. 

Further, the SVG police have issued the statement that the deceased was gunned down in the early hours of the morning. In responding to the anonymous call, the investigating officers immediately arrived at the scene. 

Upon arrival at the location, they discovered the body of the victim lying motionless on the ground with wounds from gunshots. They recovered the body and took him to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital. The medical practitioners examined his body and concluded that he was dead.

Shockingly, just after the homicide of an unknown victim, the nation witnessed the murder of a one-year-old infant at Rose Hall on Saturday evening. 

The inquiry has been initiated by the police in both cases, and they urged the public to come forward with any information and assist the officers in the matter. 

As soon as the news spread on social media, many people around the nation took to their Facebook handles to express their concerns regarding the spike in crimes in their country. 

While reacting to the news, a person named Sarrah Ann commented, “I am so scared of St Vincent now. I know everywhere things are happening, but here, everyone has guns. They gun u down as if u will get back up tomorrow. So sad for my country.”

Another person by the name of Jamal Ammon wrote, “Why so much crimes? people have no respect for other lives. Killing people on every day. worst condition of our country.”

The sudden rise in crime in SVG has left the citizens fearing for their security and well-being. The people of the Federation are definitely in a crisis situation, and those in authority need to take immediate action to tackle the surge of crime before the island pays a heavy price.
