5 cruise ships dock at St Vincent and the Grenadines, brings 8000 passengers
St Vincent and the Grenadines welcomed 5 cruise ships, two into Port Kingstown and three into Port Elizabeth on Wednesday, 31st January, 2024.

St Vincent and the Grenadines welcomed five cruise ships, two into Port Kingstown and three into Port Elizabeth, on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024.
The cruise ships that berthed in Port Kingstown include Costa Fortuna and Mein Schiff, Marella Discovery, Royal Clipper, and Le Bellot, docked in Port Elizabeth. Notably, the ships brought approx 8000 passengers to the shores of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Moreover, Minister of Tourism Carlos James also mentioned the expansion of the tourism sector of St Vincent and the Grenadines as the economic condition of the island nation following the brutal challenges faced by the nation during the pandemic era.
The Tourism Minister, Carlos James stated “Cruise calls increased by 20% in 2023, with a 120 per cent increase in cruise guests to the location over the same period in 2022.”
As per the Tourism Minister, Carlos James, the preliminary data reveals that 2023 will surpass 2022 by 83.2%. It is to be noted that it is double the last year’s number.
Additionally, Cruise calls to St Vincent and the Grenadines increased for the second year in a row, surpassing pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
Tourism is the economic pillar in St Vincent and the Grenadines. During his address, Minister of Tourism Carlos James shared his vision for improving the tourist experience, including the enhancements to several existing and new eco-tourism sites.
Furthermore, the arrival of cruise ships will play a pivotal role in enhancing the tourism sector of the island nation. It will also create a surge for several services, which include restaurants, guided tours and shops, which will directly create job opportunities for the local communities.
