Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: A man was allegedly beaten and robbed of $88,000.00 outside the RBC Bank in Arima on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.
Notably, the 48-year-old victim, who is an employee at NP gas station, was on his way to deposit the money at the bank around 7:30 am along Lord Kitchener Avenue.
As soon as he came outside the bank, he was suddenly ambushed by a man in the carpark.
It is to be noted that the suspect announced a robbery and held the victim in a Headlock while he tried to take the Bag of Cash from him.
In due course of time, a struggle ensued, and a second suspect approached and helped his accomplice severely beat the victim before they grabbed the bag of cash and fled the scene on foot.
When the victim tried to save his bag from snatching, he suffered a few injuries and was given medical aid.
A report was made to the police, and investigations are ongoing on this matter.
Such cases related to robbery are not a new trend, as Trinidad and Tobago often saw similar stances of crime.
Recently, last Wednesday, a 30-year-old woman from Chaguanas became the victim of a violent robbery in San Juan. She was walking along Bushe Street, near the community centre, when two men in a car approached her and threatened her with a gun.
Notably, they then beat her up and took her handbag, which contained a phone, cash and a pair of steel pan sticks.
The woman suffered injuries to her face and chest while people managed to call the police and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
People should be aware if anything weird has happened around them, and the general public is advised to be vigilant and cautious when walking in unfamiliar or isolated areas, especially at night.
There is a need to enhance the strictness and laws to combat the rise of robberies.
