20% Grenada Police Officers are infected with COVID
The reports have shown that 20 per cent of officers in the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) are now infected with COVID-19. This has lead to the rise of concern among police officials.

Grenada: The reports have shown that 20 per cent of officers in the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) are now infected with COVID-19. This has lead to the rise of concern among police officials.
The island country started recording a high surge in COVID-19 mutant cases in mid-August as a result of mass gatherings, some of which were not even authorised. The latest figures have revealed that local actives cases rise from 5 on August 17 to 1 791 on September 10, 2021.
Some of the officers are also working in shifts of up to 16 hours per day. As a result, the Health authorities of the island has declared that the nation was impacted by community spread with the arrival of the Delta variant which was detected in the month of August.
Dr Keith Mitchell – the Prime Minister and Minister for National Security, in his statement, cited that, “There are a number of police officers, I think is more than 160 odd policemen who are infected with COVID-19 and many of them have to self-quarantine, and it is impacting them and their families and also the productive level of the force.”
Following the statement, he added, “It is a tough act for everybody, with the lockdown this weekend, almost every police officer having to be working 15 to 16 hours; otherwise, we won’t be able to achieve a notable impact with the lockdown we are implementing.”
“They are trying best on their part, they are giving the government the help they can, the leadership is trying, but at the same time there are serious limitations,” the prime minister added.
According to the statistics, there are a total of 2,345 confirmed cases of the COVID-19, while a total of 24 people died in Grenada amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
