NACOSH Director Earl Morris informs about the Occupational Safety and Health

Guyana: The Director of the National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH), Earl Morris, early this morning (on March 30, 2022), was interviewed on the National Communication Network (NCN), informing the public on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH).
OSH month will commence on April 1, and Morris mentioned that it is important that the persons within the length and breadth of Guyana understand the need for workers’ safety and them to get home safe.
“In cases of an accident, person’s families are affected and the image of companies, we have to curb faulty practices on the job to ensure lives are saved,” he noted.
On Sunday, April 3, 2022, public members will be invited to participate in the OSH walk under the theme, “Act Together to build a Positive Safety and Health Culture,” which will kickstart from the forecourt of the Labour Ministry. Also, participants will receive T-shirts, Bottles, and Caps on the day of the activity.
Further, the Director also mentioned that the OSH award would be held on April 28, with five categories listed for interested persons to apply. These are;
1. General Workplace Award
2. Safety Committee Award
3. Young Person Award
4. Individual Award
5. COVID Award
