Moruca miner nabbed with 83.3 grams Marijuana

Georgetown, Guyana: Randolph Ganesh, a 35-year-old Miner of Moruca at North West District, was nabbed at Police Check-Point with 83.3 grams of Marijuana on Saturday.
It is to be noted that a suspect was found to be in possession of marijuana in a haversack, which he carried in his hands at a Police roadblock at the 70 km Check-Point in Region Seven.
Further, the suspected cannabis was concealed in two Pringles cans. Ganesh was informed of the offence and cautioned, after which he admitted ownership of the drug (narcotics) and said that he had purchased it from the charity for his personal use.
As per sources, the suspect was placed into custody and is slated to be charged.
However, this is not the first time that the country has witnessed such cases, as just a few days back, on January 3, Guyana police captured a minibus passenger with 21.4 grams of marijuana.
As per information, the higher-ranked officers were conducting a stop and search exercise at the Mango Landing Police Outpost. While performing the exercise, the authorities intercepted route #72 minibus (BSS 5372).
Moreover, the officials found one transparent plastic bag hidden among some clothing. The plastic bag contained various items which included including a number of leaves, seeds and stems, which were suspected to be cannabis.
Noting this, the items belonged to a 29-year-old passenger who has been identified as Lestroy Archibald and a resident of Tuschen Old Scheme, East Bank Essequibo.
Moreover, the suspect was told of the offence he committed, and the authorities cautioned and apprehended him regarding the same. The officers took him to the Mahdia Police Station for the offence he did.
At the same time, the suspected drugs (cannabis) found on him were weighed in front of him, and the weight was found to be equal to 21.4 grams. The narcotic substance was later marked, sealed and lodged by the Guyana Police. The suspect was placed into custody and is slated to be charged with the crime.
