Latoya B Jones elected as new Deputy Speaker of House of Assembly of St Kitts and Nevis

St Kitts and Nevis: The administration of the “Oath or Affirmation of Allegiance by the Speaker of the House of Assembly” has recently taken place, during which Latoya B Jones was elected the House of Assembly’s new Deputy Speaker on October 25, 2022 (Tuesday).

Jones was sworn in as the Senator of St Kitts and Nevis National Assembly at the High Court, Charlestown in Nevis, on October 24, 2022, at 12:30 pm.

While addressing the public and assembly of the nation, Latoya Jones described herself as a dynamic lady who is Nevisian at heart and is determined to empower the Kittitians and Nevisians.

Furthermore, she attributed her success to her grandmother, Eglantine Duberry and outlined that she instilled values and morals in her that have shaped the woman she is today.

“My grandmother taught me to have manners, respect, and love for everyone. She taught me to be hard-working, fearless, driven, and selfless, as well as giving up during difficulties was never an option for her. It, therefore, never became an option for me,” she highlighted.

Recently, Jones, the deputy speaker, served as the Special Advisor to the Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley.

Previously, she worked as the Assistant Regulator at the Nevis Financial Services Department, Senior Tax Officer Inland Revenue Department at Nevis Island Administration, and Senior Auditor Department of Audit at NIA.
