Landslide in Trinidad, no injuries reported

The landslide was reported on the North Coast Road of Trinidad and Tobago. The officers of the North-Eastern Division were alerted and responded to the report of landslide on Saturday, 30 December 2023 at around 8:45 pm.
As per the information, the landslides caused severe damages to the roadway, which made it difficult for the vehicles those were trying to enter or exit the area through that route.
Notably, the motorists and residents were given the advice to use the Blanchisseuse Road for the entry or exit purpose from the North Coast via Arima.
According to the sources, the Ministry of Works and Transport, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management, the San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporation as well as the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service and Trinidad and Tobago Regiment have been mobilised.
Also, the North-Eastern Division officers worked with the higher ranked authorities to provide their necessary support to the needy ones.
Moreover, the North Coast Road, Maracas was reopened the next morning to traffic via single lane following a successful clearance of the debris from a landslide, which occurred overnight.
It is to be noted, no major injuries or other kind of damages were reported. The Ministry of Works and Transport along with the other agencies were able to clear the debris. However, motorists and the residents were given the advice to drive with extra caution as only one lane of traffic is available near the first lookout.
Further, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is requesting the public to only traverse the roadway only if absolutely necessary as works are underway to return the carriage way to normalcy.
As per the details, the conditions will continue to be monitored by the higher authorities of the island nation and the other police officers. The updates regarding the same will be provided to the residents of the nation accordingly.
