Grenada: Grenadian politician, Kindra Maturine-Stewart pays tribute to the Late Elvin Nimrod.
Kindra Maturine-Stewart wrote, “with deep sadness, the Nation, especially the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique, mourn the passing on Saturday, February 6, 2021, of our beloved Mr. Elvin G. Nimrod.Mr. Nimrod was a man of and for the people.”
Furthermore Maturine-Stewart added, He loved the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique dearly and dedicated more than nineteen unbroken years of selfless service to them.
Elvin Nimrod once said publicly that he would die for the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique, and we believed with all our hearts that he would have done so.
He was deeply loved and respected by many. Mr. Nimrod was responsible for transforming the lives of Carriacou and Petite Martinique, especially the youth. He provided us with many personal growth and development opportunities and started an education revolution on the Islands.
He was responsible for the rapid growth and development that Carriacou and Petite Martinique have experienced over the past 20 years. He also ensured that Carriacou and Petite Martinique received their fair share of the national pie. We are all proud of his achievements.
Mr. Nimrod also instilled a sense of pride in us that will last for generations. As Parliamentary Representative for Carriacou and Martinique, he gave exceptional service, and his legacy is well documented in the many infrastructure projects undertaken during his tenure.
One of his crowning achievements is establishing the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, which has enabled better representation and administration of the constituency’s affairs.
He was a giant, a gentle and loving soul, a great Ambassador, a patriot, a generous son of the soil, a humble human being. We will miss his wisdom, his strength, and his political astuteness.
I thank Mr. Nimrod for his guidance, counsel, and the support he has given to me, all of which have ensured my success and the New National Party’s success in the 2018 General Elections in Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
