Judge Mathieu Chanlatte was appointed as the judge for the assassination case of Haiti’s President Moise. Judge Chanlatte stepped down from the duty that was assigned to him. This all happened after his clerk was killed. The case now has been under more confusion. This case has not been investigated after five weeks of the assassination of President Moise.
Judge Mathieu Chanlatte, the judge investigating the murder of President Jovenel Moïse, said he was submitting his resignation from the case for “personal reasons.” It couldn’t be determined whether Mr Chanlatte’s exit from the case had to do with the death of his chief clerk, Ernst Lafortune. Mr Lafortune’s union and colleagues say he was murdered.
According to a statement of Thursday by Mr Lafortune’s union, the National Association of Haitian Legal Clerks said the clerk was having an evening meeting with Mr Chanlatte on Wednesday. The two had a lively discussion.
Hours later, Mr Lafortune was dropped off by unidentified people at a hospital with broken arms and a gash in his throat, said another legal clerk working with him.
Former prime minister Laurent Lamothe said that one month has already passed since the tragic assassination of President Jovenel Moise. Still, they have not got any accurate status and reason behind the assassination. The fight would not be easy but unavoidable.
A week ago, the Dean of the Tribunal, Judge Bernard Saint-Vil, highlighted that he is not finding any judge who is willing to open and investigate these “explosive” files.
Martin Moise, the widow of assassinated Haiti’s President Jovenel Moise, hinted that she would be standing as a candidate for presidential elections.
Martin Moise, while answering the questions by the local media house, said that President Jovenel Moise had a vision & now the Haitians would not going to let that die easily. With the message, she also informed the sources that those who came to kill President Moise were also looking for certain documents. They were seeking something in the room, and they found it, and I did not know what it was.
According to the statements, Martine Moise informed that she had been seriously declaring to stand as a candidate for the presidency of Haiti after she would be going through more surgeries on her wounded arm in the coming days.
