Jammu and Kashmir, India: India to host the G20 Tourism Working Group Meeting in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, which is an essential step towards the promotion of the tourism sector in the region. Since August 2019, when the State of J&K was known as the two Union Territories with an abolished legal status, this will be the first major siting at the international level to be held in Srinagar.

The reports claimed that the upcoming Global Tourist Summit is a golden opportunity for India to present the region of Jammu and Kashmir as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in India. It is also a great opportunity to burst the negative image of the region worldwide and promote its positive narrative.

India has decided to move forward with the idea of conducting the G20 meeting in Srinagar despite the opposition from neighbour countries China and Pakistan. On its part, Pakistan has urged its allies, such as Turkey, China and Saudi Arabia, not to attend and oppose the G20 meeting to be held in Srinagar.

However, the Indian authorities have stated that the nation has decided to conduct the meeting to express its positive intent showing the sovereignty of the J&k region and the motive to bring peace and prosperity to the local citizens. Holding the meeting in Srinagar is also considered as a way to extend a message to the world that the Union Territories has restored its normalcy and peace, said reports.

It is the right time to let the international communities know that the region of Jammu and Kashmir has initiated a new era of peace and stability and turned over a new leaf through sheer cooperation and perfect execution of the plans. The government of J&K has established proactive measures and ways to root out the terror and bring a sense of safety and prosperity to the locals, added reports.

The meeting is expected to promote tourism in the region with a massive jump, along with creating other benefits for the people of J&K, such as more employment opportunities, more investments and economic benefits. For the assistance and support of the visiting tourists, the state administration has arranged a quick medical response team along with advanced life support equipment such as mobile ambulances to ensure the safety of the visitors.

The reports claimed that the upcoming Global Tourists Meeting is to be proven as a significant step towards reviving the tourism sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The region has exceptional potential as a tourist destination which would be unlocked and promoted through the meeting. The region is a safe and secure place to visit for global tourists, outlined sources.

Through the revival of tourism in J&K, it will also refute the false allegations made by the Pakistani authorities regarding the violations of human rights in the valley. The valley is filled with India’s rich cultural heritage, customs, values and festivals, which will also be promoted through the meeting. It will be essential for acknowledging the region’s natural beauty along with the warm hospitality of the locals, according to the reports.

Specifically, film tourism has been promoted by the government of Jammu and Kashmir actively in the past years, and a dedicated event will be conducted during the meeting to promote it further, concluded reports.
