Increase in COVID-19 cases and 1 death in Barbados

New COVID-19 cases and vaccination status update released by the Ministry of Health and Wellness of Barbados. The data shows that the total active cases of COVID-19 are 4,186 in number, with 48 deaths recorded till present in Barbados due to the COVID-19 virus. No new death case of COVID-19 has been reported.

From the day pandemic hit Barbados, the health department have tested 1,94,896 people, out of which 4,186 were reported positive, out of which 2,025 were female, and 2,161 were male. Now 60 persons are isolated.

In Barbados, 96,212 people received their first shot of vaccine and 72,606 have been fully vaccinated with having 2 shots according to the present time.

A total of 590 tests have been conducted in a single day.

  The Pan American Health Organization and World Health Organization, during the rollout programme of the vaccine distribution, provided 33,600 doses to Barbados.

Till now, 1.5 Lakh doses of vaccine have been given to Barbados

WHO aims to provide 183,000 vaccines to the Caribbean island of Barbados.

The government gave their COVID-19 Hotline numbers for helping the citizens 536-4500 and COVID Monitoring Unit 536-3865 along with the data shared by the Health Ministry.

 To combat COVID-19, Barbados has received 33,600 doses of Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccines under the COVAX facility from PAHO.

On May 4, 2021, 650 COVID-19 tests were administered by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory, reporting 31 positive coronavirus cases in Barbados.

On Friday, May 9 2021, Barbados reported 2 new positive cases of COVID-19, one male and one female, from the 678 tests conducted by the Best-Dos Santos Public health laboratory.

Whereas five persons have recovered from coronavirus, and 109 persons remain under isolation as a health security measure.

 March 17 2020, the Minister of Health and Wellness, Lt Col Jeffrey Bostic, approved the first two cases in Barbados. They will live in isolation until they recover from the virus.

On March 19 2020, three more cases were approved, taking the total number of issues to 5, including the husband of the first case and a cruise ship passenger and a person from New York.3,998
